That conflict gave birth to the <strong><em>Uni\u00f3n C\u00edvica Radical<\/em><\/strong>, Alfons\u00edn&#8217;s political party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the meantime, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/?p=794\">a site previously belonging to French nuns<\/a> had been purchased for Alfons\u00edn. The old was demolished &amp; the ceremony for the new\u00a0 took place October 30th, the same day Alfons\u00edn was elected in 1983. A bust of the former President by sculptor <strong>Luciano Garbati<\/strong> was officially revealed by family members &amp; leading politicians of the UCR. Vice-President <strong>Julio Cobos<\/strong> spoke about political reform as did UCR leader, <strong>Gerardo Morales<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Ra\u00fal Alfons\u00edn, Recoleta Cemetery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/alfonsincobos1.jpg\" alt=\"Ra\u00fal Alfons\u00edn, Recoleta Cemetery\" width=\"450\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Ra\u00fal Alfons\u00edn, Recoleta Cemetery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/alfonsincobos2.jpg\" alt=\"Ra\u00fal Alfons\u00edn, Recoleta Cemetery\" width=\"450\" height=\"247\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many people claim that the bust does not resemble Alfons\u00edn, but supposedly the sculptor used an older photograph &#8212;therefore a younger image of Alfons\u00edn&#8212; as his model.
