Only 19 years old when she passed away, there must have been ample warning of her demise since she wrote this 5 years earlier (translation follows):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00bfNo es la muerte, Se\u00f1or, la libertad?<br \/>\n\u00bfNo es el umbral de tu divina gloria?<br \/>\n\u00bfNo es el paso, Se\u00f1or, a mejor vida?<br \/>\nPues entonces \u00a1Oh Dios! Por qu\u00e9 le temo<br \/>\nY me asusta la idea de que venga?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bfEs que acaso, Se\u00f1or, no tengo fe?<br \/>\n\u00bfEs que acaso me falta la certeza<br \/>\nDe saber que es la gloria de tu presencia<br \/>\nY temo y me tortura y no descansa<br \/>\nEste pavor intenso de morir?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a1Es que soy muy cobarde, Se\u00f1or m\u00edo!<br \/>\nLa sola idea de sufrir me aterra<br \/>\nY el pensamiento del dolor me espanta!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Dadme fuerzas, Se\u00f1or, dadme coraje<br \/>\nPara no tener miedo de la muerte<br \/>\nY en el \u00faltimo instante de mi vida<br \/>\nDeciros \u00a1Oh Se\u00f1or! entre sonrisas<br \/>\nYa traspongo el umbral, ya estoy contigo.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Is death not, Lord, liberty?<br \/>\nIs it not the threshold of Your divine glory?<br \/>\nIs it not the way, Lord, to better life?<br \/>\nThen, oh God, why do I fear it<br \/>\nAnd the idea of what will come scares me?<\/p>\n<p>Is it that, Lord, I have no faith?<br \/>\nIs it that I lack the fortitude<br \/>\nto know the glory of your presence<br \/>\nAnd I fear, it tortures me, &amp; does not end<br \/>\nthis intense terror of dying?<\/p>\n<p>I am such a coward, My Lord!<br \/>\nJust the idea of suffering terrifies me<br \/>\nAnd the thought of pain frightens me!<\/p>\n<p>Give me strength, Lord, give me courage<br \/>\nNot to be afraid of death<br \/>\nAnd in the last instant of my life<br \/>\nProclaim, Oh Lord!, between smiles<br \/>\nI have passed the threshold, now I am with You.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unique among the thousands of plaques in Recoleta Cemetery, Ang\u00e9lica Blanco Granada wrote a poem about her own death.
