Whether in BA for promotion, performance or just to relax, many see the city&#8217;s top attractions. However, only few have left a public record of their visit to Recoleta Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the oldest celebrity photos we&#8217;ve found online is from <strong>Liza Minnelli<\/strong>&#8216;s visit in 1993. Below, she leaves flowers for Eva Per\u00f3n:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/Liza.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Liza Minnelli\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Published in 2009, <em>Bicycle Diaries<\/em> by <strong>David Byrne<\/strong> of the new wave band Talking Heads is part diary &amp; part manifesto for making places more bicycle friendly. While the exact date of his trip to Buenos Aires is not stated, he did visit Recoleta Cemetery&#8230; likely in 2008. Copyright laws prohibit reproducing any text, but he considered the cemetery as a separate <em>barrio<\/em> for families to build ornate palaces for the deceased. No photos.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/Byrne2009.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:auto;height:350px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>During a Rolling Stones concert tour, <strong>Mick Jagger<\/strong> strolled through the cemetery apparently unnoticed in February 2016&#8230; except for staff taking photos for his Twitter account:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/Mick01.png\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Mick Jagger\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/Mick02.png\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Mick Jagger\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Ashton Kutcher<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lanacion.com.ar\/1886780-la-curiosidad-de-ashton-kutcher\">traveled to Buenos Aires<\/a> in March 2016 to promote his latest series <em>The Ranch<\/em>. He really made the rounds, as Armando Besada posted in Instagram:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/Ashton.png\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Ashton Kutcher\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>A few months later in May 2016, <strong>Dolph Lundgren<\/strong> came to Buenos Aires for &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanacion.com.ar\/espectaculos\/dolph-lundgren-de-visita-en-buenos-aires-nid1898889\">its art, the beef &amp; the women, of course!<\/a>&#8221; Ugh. At least that&#8217;s the version the newspaper <em>La Naci\u00f3n<\/em> wanted to tell. Lundgren filmed a few segments for the Space Awards in La Boca &amp; while in the cemetery, he took a selfie at the tomb of Eva Per\u00f3n &amp; posted it on Instagram :<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/LundgrenRecCem.jpg\" alt=\"Buenos Aires, Recoleta Cemetery, Dolph Lundgren\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Queen Margrethe II<\/strong> of Denmark visited Buenos Aires in 2019, but that trip wasn&#8217;t her first time in Argentina. She&#8217;d visited in 1966 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanacion.com.ar\/politica\/reina-margarita-dinamarca-volvio-argentina-anos-nid2228953\">at the age of 25<\/a>, but this time photographers recorded her visit to Recoleta Cemetery (image courtesy of <em>La Naci\u00f3n<\/em>):<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/Margrethe2.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Clar\u00edn, Buenos Aires, Margrethe II, Queen, Denmark\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>English pop star <strong>Dua Lipa<\/strong> chatted with fans &amp; had a private tour of the cemetery in September 2022. We don&#8217;t know who this guide is, so I wonder what she (&amp; her massive security force) thought of the visit:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/DuaLipa01.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, D\u00eda Lipa\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/DuaLipa02.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, D\u00eda Lipa\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Guitarists <strong>Slash<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Richard Fortus<\/strong> of hard rock band Guns N&#8217; Roses took advantage of being in Buenos Aires on tour in October 2025 to stop by the cemetery &amp; do a shoot with photographer Ross Halfin. <a href=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/?p=6307\">As mentioned before<\/a>, the use of Recoleta Cemetery as a backdrop is fantastic because those pics help spread the word about what a great location it is. But why disrespect architectural heritage by stepping on family plots?<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/rosshalfin.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/rosshalfin.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:450px\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Oasis must have been inspired by Slash &amp; Fortus because while in town on tour the following month in November 2025, <strong>Noel Gallagher<\/strong> actually visited Recoleta Cemetery &#8212;waiting in line to go inside like everyone else&#8212; &amp; stopped to sign a few autographs.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/NoelGallagher.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:450px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>A surprising omission: <strong>Madonna<\/strong> first visited Argentina in 1993 during the <em>Girlie Show World Tour<\/em>, then returned three years later to film Alan Parker&#8217;s version of the musical <em>Evita<\/em>. Amazingly, no photo ever surfaced of her visiting Eva Per\u00f3n&#8217;s mausoleum. Did she go undercover? After hours? Would that have even been possible? Madonna brought the <em>Sticky &amp; Sweet Tour<\/em> to Buenos Aires in 2008 &amp; finished the <em>MDNA Tour<\/em> in 2012 in Argentina. Although she didn&#8217;t miss a photo-op with former President Cristina Fern\u00e1ndez de Kirchner &amp; another visit to the Casa Rosada, there has never been a public photo released of Madonna in Recoleta Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/Madonna.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Madonna, CFK\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><em>Did we miss a celebrity?<\/em> Send a photo along with details, &amp; we&#8217;ll add them to this list.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buenos Aires attracts millions of tourists every year &amp; among those are quite a few celebrities.
