Isaac&#8217;s grandfather, \u00c1ngel, fought during independence wars against the Spanish but later moved to Buenos Aires, switching interests from politics to business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1895, Isaac began to spend the family fortune on an impressive collection of Spanish colonial art. Even though an engineer by trade, his passion for period objects transformed the family house into a museum which eventually opened to the public. Isaac remained the museum&#8217;s honorary director until one year before his death in 1928.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201304D11.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Isaac Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Family members continued to add to Isaac&#8217;s collection, &amp; in 1947 the museum found a new location: the <strong>Palacio Noel<\/strong>. The Neocolonial residence built by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/?p=1243\">architect <strong>Mart\u00edn Noel<\/strong><\/a> serves as the perfect backdrop for the collection:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201207A29.jpg\" alt=\"Buenos Aires, Retiro, Museo Isaac Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco, Palacio Noel\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201209A22.jpg\" alt=\"Buenos Aires, Retiro, Museo Isaac Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco, Palacio Noel\" width=\"450\" height=\"262\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201209A30.jpg\" alt=\"Buenos Aires, Retiro, Museo Isaac Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco, Palacio Noel\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201209A10.jpg\" alt=\"Buenos Aires, Retiro, Museo Isaac Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco, Palacio Noel\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also buried in the family mausoleum is <strong>Na\u00edr Mercedes Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco de Gowland<\/strong>, who founded the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asocguiasargentinas.org.ar\">Asociaci\u00f3n Gu\u00edas Argentinas<\/a> in 1953&#8230; during the last years of her life.
