And while important enough in their own right, when well-known artist\u00a0<strong>\u00c1ngel della Valle<\/strong> married into the family he certainly increased their status.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Born in Buenos Aires in 1855 to a family of Italian immigrants, della Valle showed an early aptitude for art. At the age of 20, he was sent to Florence to study then returned to Buenos Aires to paint &amp; teach. Forming the <em>Sociedad de Est\u00edmulo de Bellas Artes<\/em> in the building Galer\u00edas Pac\u00edficos now occupies, Della Valle influenced the next generation of artists &amp; became friends with contempories such as <strong>Eduardo Sivori<\/strong> &amp; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/?p=576\">Lucio Correa Morales<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Palma, \u00c1ngel della Valle\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201202A02.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Palma, \u00c1ngel della Valle\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Palma, \u00c1ngel della Valle\" src=\"https:\/\/recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201202A03.jpg\" alt=\"Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Palma, \u00c1ngel della Valle\" width=\"352\" height=\"401\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sadly enough, Della Valle suffered a heart attack in 1903&#8230; while teaching class. And unfortunately for us, most of his work is in private collections today. His style has obvious Impressionist influences with a color palette similar to Spanish painter <strong>Joaqu\u00edn Sorolla<\/strong>. Favorite subjects for Della Valle included landscapes, gauchos &amp; the occasional portrait. Painted in 1892, it seemed to justify the recent <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/?p=196\">Conquista del Desierto<\/a><\/strong><\/em> as an indigenous warrior tribe carries away a white woman.
