Captain <strong>Juan Florencio Terrada<\/strong> commanded the newly created, 350 member <em>Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Granaderos Provinciales<\/em> since he had bravely commanded troops under Liniers. Terrada saw battle again during the second British invasion the following year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Juan Florencio Terrada, Recoleta Cemetery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200804B06.jpg\" alt=\"Juan Florencio Terrada, Recoleta Cemetery\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Continuing to move up politically as well as within the military, Terrada accepted appointment as the first Governor-Mayor (<em>Gobernador Intendente<\/em>) of Mendoza province in 1814. A later post as Minister of War gave him the responsibility of assisting Jos\u00e9 de San Mart\u00edn prepare troops for the independence of Chile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Terrada married Mar\u00eda M\u00e1rmol, aunt of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/?p=92\">Jos\u00e9 M\u00e1rmol<\/a>. Jos\u00e9 took refuge in the Terrada estate in San Isidro before spending years in exile in Montevideo.
