The company logo played off the family name &amp; its association with Christmas. Benito passed away in 1916, but his children would continue the family business &amp; become famous in other areas. A plaque for Benito reminds the visitor, &#8220;Don&#8217;t cry for him, imitate him&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Chocolate Noel wrapper\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/noelwrapper.jpg\" alt=\"Chocolate Noel wrapper\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Benito Noel, Recoleta Cemetery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200912A08.jpg\" alt=\"Benito Noel, Recoleta Cemetery\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One son, <strong>Carlos Noel<\/strong>, managed the chocolate factory located in La Boca. Although recently sold, the building is still standing on Avenida Regimiento de Patricios. However, Carlos is probably best remembered as mayor of Buenos Aires in the 1920s under President <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/?p=199\">Marcelo T. de Alvear<\/a><\/strong>&#8230; that&#8217;s when the President of Argentina had to pick who ran the capital city. No elections were required, so Noel family connections were obviously very good:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Carlos Noel, Recoleta Cemetery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200912A06.jpg\" alt=\"arlos Noel, Recoleta Cemetery\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"F\u00e1brica Chocolates Noel, La Boca\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200908A14.jpg\" alt=\"F\u00e1brica Chocolates Noel, La Boca\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"F\u00e1brica Chocolates Noel, La Boca\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200908A16.jpg\" alt=\"F\u00e1brica Chocolates Noel, La Boca\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another son, <strong>Mart\u00edn Noel<\/strong>, became one of the most famous architects of the 1920s &amp; 1930s. He trailblazed a new style of architecture which combined Art Deco with design elements from indigenous American cultures as well as Spanish Colonial forms. Known as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/?p=173\">NeoPrehispanic<\/a>, his best example in Buenos Aires is the Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco&#8230; formerly the family home. Mart\u00edn also designed the Argentina pavilion for the 1929 Ibero-American Expo pictured below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Mart\u00edn Noel, Recoleta Cemetery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200912A09.jpg\" alt=\"Mart\u00edn Noel, Recoleta Cemetery\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Pabell\u00f3n Argentino, Mart\u00edn Noel, Sevilla\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200910F13.jpg\" alt=\"Pabell\u00f3n Argentino, Mart\u00edn Noel, Sevilla\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Pabell\u00f3n Argentino, Mart\u00edn Noel, Sevilla\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/200910F09.jpg\" alt=\"Pabell\u00f3n Argentino, Mart\u00edn Noel, Sevilla\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He even designed the decoration on the E Line of the Buenos Aires subway&#8230; all tiles depicting different regions of Spain:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Buenos Aires, subte, L\u00ednea E, tiles, azulejos\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recoletacemetery.com\/images\/201212B26.jpg\" alt=\"Buenos Aires, subte, L\u00ednea E, tiles, azulejos\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chocolate Noel succumbed to the wave of privatization in the 1990s in Argentina &amp; was purchased in 1994 by Arcor. While Arcor is an Argentine mega-corporation, the Noel brand was discontinued.
